Learn How to Bid on Federal Flood Protection Projects
Dec 17, 2018
Upcoming workshops led by the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers and Iowa State University Center for Industrial Research and Service (Iowa State CIRAS) will offer valuable education and know-how to local construction, contractors and building trades interested in playing a role in building the new segments of the permanent flood protection in our community.
On Wednesday, January 30 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance (501 First St. SE) U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers representatives will lead Federal Business Review, a two-part workshop that will provide an in-depth look at how to work with the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers.
On February 5, March 5 and April 2, Iowa State CIRAS will lead System for Award Management (SAM) workshops at the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. The workshop will be identical on all three dates, for the convenience of interested companies. All companies bidding on federal contracts must be registered in the SAM system. From 9:00 - 10:00 a.m., companies will walk through the process of registering. From 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Iowa State CIRAS will assist companies in registering with the SAM system on a first come, first serve basis.
The workshops are part of a series that began in October dubbed Historic Flood. Historic Recovery. Historic Build, which aims to steer as much of the upcoming flood protection system work as possible to local companies. The series has been made possible by a partnership with the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, City of Cedar Rapids and Iowa State CIRAS.
These workshops are free and open to all interested businesses. More information and registration for all workshops can be found at www.cedarrapids.org/events.
