Summer Passport Program Kicks Off, Encouraging Local Shopping Downtown

Jul 11, 2019

Adventure through Downtown Cedar Rapids this summer with the Downtown Cedar Rapids Summer Passport! The Downtown Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District, The Gazette and the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance launched a buy local initiative to encourage consumers to support small, locally-owned businesses in the heart of the city.

Much like filling up a passport with travel destinations, the Summer Passport invites you to take a “staycation” in Downtown Cedar Rapids. By filling up your Summer Passport with official stamps from all 12 participating businesses and at least two participating community events and submitting it to either the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance or The Gazette, you’ll be entered to win one of the following valuable prize packages!

Cedar Rapids Staycation Package – $1,000 value

Do it up big in Downtown Cedar Rapids with a four course Chef’s Dinner + paired wines for up to six people at Popoli Ristorante & Sullivan’s Bar. Dine inside the People’s National Bank original vault, then spend the night at the DoubleTree by Hilton’s Presidential suite.

Country Music Fan Package – $900 value

Yee all the haws with two festival passes to the 2020 Country Thunder Music Festival, held in Forest City, Iowa in mid-June (formerly Tree Town) plus a private patio party - including an acoustic performance and a keg of beer - at Hazzard County Saloon in Downtown Cedar Rapids.

Pamper Package – $800 value

Treat yo’self to a night out for six at Della Viti - Cedar Rapids. Enjoy a wine & cheese tasting, a wine bottle craft activity, and six bottles of wine to take home. Relax and be pampered with a hydrafacial, lash extensions and a spray tan from Allure Skin, Body & Brows in Downtown Cedar Rapids.

Be sure to turn in your Summer Passport by Monday, September 23 at 4 p.m. See a list of participating businesses and community events at
