Future Young Professionals See Cedar Rapids Living Firsthand with New Tour

Oct 21, 2019

In a bid to win over soon-to-be college grads for their first career steps, the Economic Alliance debuted a free quality of place tour, CR City Tour, in early October. We know that college students are most often choosing the city they want to live in and then job hunting in that area. Showcasing the amenities available in our community gives this potential workforce population a chance to explore first-hand what makes Cedar Rapids an entertaining, delicious, thriving, affordable and dynamic community to live and work in.

The afternoon tour took students from colleges and universities across Eastern Iowa to check out downtown housing options and surrounding entertainment and amenities, hear about the future of recreational opportunities with the owners of SOKO Outfitters in Czech Village, a tour of the NewBo City Market, sample tasty fare at local restaurant Caucho, and hear from area young professionals about their experiences in Cedar Rapids.

Students snagged a copy of the newest Urban Living in Cedar Rapids magazine outlining core district housing and amenities guide with information about the cost of living in Cedar Rapids. Young professionals make up many of the residents in urban housing developments, so showing students affordable, modern options in the center of the action was paramount for this tour. Additionally, students found out about ImpactCR, the Economic Alliance’s young professionals group.
