WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Chamber Alliance applauds the priorities outlined by Governor Kim Reynolds today in her Condition of the State address and the organization looks forward to working with her on our mutual priorities. The broad agenda outlined by the Governor outlined multiple priority issues for the Iowa Chamber Alliance that will lead to continued growth for the state.
The bold plan outlined through her “Invest In Iowa” proposal includes multiple priorities from our agenda that address TALENT, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT and the overall BUSINESS CLIMATE. Iowa Chamber Alliance Board Chair, Doug Neumann stresses that “this bold vision has the ability to make a long term investment in the state of Iowa and includes elements that address any tax disparities in its implementation.” The Iowa Chamber Alliance is excited for the resources to fund quality of life initiatives in all our communities to attract the workforce necessary for our businesses and we will work with the Governor and Legislature to ensure that the overall package addresses our overall tax competitiveness. We appreciate the reforms taken in 2018 to reduce corporate income tax rates and hope that a final package will reduce rates even further.
The business community in Iowa agrees that push for TALENT is the most important issue facing Iowa businesses both large and small. We will work hard with the Governor and legislature on increased funding for Future Ready Iowa and new initiatives to address childcare needs for employees
The Governor also made budget priorities for important INFRASTRUCTURE investments including increased funding to address flooding and resources targeted to expand connectivity through broadband.
Executive Director, Dustin Miller, commented that “the agenda laid out by the Governor has the ability to further grow the state economically and demographically. Our Chamber members know the opportunity that rests in our communities and applaud the overall effort of the Governor to provide tools for us to attract this new growth.”
