Two Buy Local Initiatives See Success in 2019

Feb 26, 2020

Buy Here, Give Here, Grow Here

The impact of dollars spent locally was a common thread through which much of the Economic Alliance’s Business Support work was woven in 2019. The Economic Alliance led the second annual Buy Here, Give Here, Grow Here, presented by GreenState Credit Union, and assisted with the first-ever Shop Iowa County.

Buy Here, Give Here, Grow Here 2019 featured local businesses and nonprofits that add value to our community for local consumers, have a hand in solving workforce availability, and offer a product or service many businesses could benefit from, while also creating our close-knit, innovative and neighborly local business culture.

Beginning in October and concluding at the end of December, messages on the importance of buying local and the stories of selected organizations were featured in Economic Alliance communications, including email, website and social media, as well as on television, newspaper, radio and billboards thanks to media sponsors The Gazette, LAMAR Outdoor Advertising Company, KZIA, KGYM/CBS2, SmartFM and KGAN/FOX.

These buy local efforts fall under the Economic Alliance’s Business Support core function, which aims to engage with small and locally-owned businesses to help them succeed.

We are proud of the results from Buy Here, Give Here, Grow Here 2019 and look forward to continuing the initiative in 2020! Applications to be featured in Buy Here, Give Here, Grow Here 2020 will be open August 3 - 27 at cedarrapids.org/buygivegrowhere.
