Since 2016, Cedar Rapids has seen $1.8 billion in construction and expansion projects. The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance regularly tracks and reports on these numbers in a capital investment report called Building to a Billion and Beyond. This report, among other data and analytics reports, is part of the Economic Alliance’s strategic plan to track and publicize job growth and capital investment for existing industry expansion and retention projects. Recent additions to Building to a Billion and Beyond include the Marion YMCA’s $19.5 million new building project, a new $32.3 million UPS cargo facility at The Eastern Iowa Airport, BioSpringer’s $25 million project, and Ahmann Companies’ $25 million River Ridge Square construction in Cedar Rapids.
