Governor Reynolds Announces Additional Easing of Restrictions

Governor Reynolds announced today easing more restrictions for Iowa businesses, including Linn, Benton, Iowa, Johnson and Washington counties. Today’s announcement updates the previous public health proclamation that was set to expire on Friday and furthers the governor’s plan to gradually reopen Iowa.

These updates are effective May 15, 2020 at 5:00 AM and extend until 11:59 PM on May 27. All guidance for business continues to include practicing social distances and public health recommendations for hygiene practices. Closures are still in effect for bars (except for take-out only), theaters, casinos and gaming facilities, senior centers and adult day facilities and amusement parks. The new proclamation includes:

Restaurants and social/fraternal orders:

  • 50% capacity
  • Groups of 6 or less
  • No self-service

Gyms and Fitness Centers:

  • 50% capacity
  • 10 or less people allowed for group classes

Malls:

  • 50% capacity
  • Play and common areas remain closed

Retail:

  • 50% capacity

Salons and Barbershops:

  • 50% capacity
  • Appointment only
