Ignite ICR Regional Summer Internship Program Goes Virtual
Jun 22, 2020
Ignite ICR is a program for interns and college students in Iowa City/Cedar Rapids (ICR) to connect to our region, our business community and each other. In response to many businesses having internships going virtual this summer and for the health and safety of all, Ignite ICR 2020 will be held completely virtually.
Despite having to adjust programming, our goal remains to increase the number of graduates who choose ICR as home after graduation. By sharing stories from those currently living here, a sense of belonging and connection develops.
Thursday, June 4 was the first of five total sessions featuring a quality of life component and professional development topic presented by a local subject matter expert. Interns heard about outdoor activities in ICR, including biking, trails, and farmers markets as well as tips and tricks for working virtually.
The final session on Thursday, July 30 showcases how to make a career in ICR. Jennifer Daly, President and CEO of ICR Iowa, will present an overview of key industry clusters and businesses in each. Interns will also hear from a panel of young professionals speaking on why they love living here - some who have gone from intern to full-time employee themselves.
