ImpactCR Welcomes New Advisory Board Members
Dec 16, 2020
The ImpactCR Board of Advisors welcomed six new members, while saying goodbye to four to close out 2020. The board recently held interviews to fill the board consisting of 15 members representing a diverse range of industries and professions in the Cedar Rapids area. The board’s main responsibility is to create programming and events that fulfill the mission to create experiences that connect and engage young professional to people and places in the community. New members board members include - Kayla Hesseltine, Therapy Brands/KASA Practice Solutions; Alexis Moreno, Collins Aerospace; Meghan Erhart, United Fire Group; Becky Robinson, Big Brothers Big Sisters; Benjamin Roberson, Community Law Office; and Sam Hammes, Gallagher Insurance. Thank you to those whose terms are ending including Kaly Etten, Jessalyn Holdcraft, Glen Fuhrmeister and Vandana Merani.
The year’s shift to virtual programming in March, represented a change from the in-person events that ImpactCR has typically hosted. The board referred back to the strategic plan to see which goals could still be accomplished given this change. The efforts included Social Distancing Siren Wednesday where members were encouraged to support a specific local industry, and document it on Facebook for a chance to win a gift card. Professional development events were hosted that were specifically targeted to young professionals. Topics included mental health, financial literacy and deciphering personality traits. Finally, ImpactCR provided the opportunity for young professional voices to be heard by policy makers through a federal candidate series where young professionals had the chance to ask questions to candidates that directly affect them.
