LFS Applications, Scholarships and Youth Project
Mar 12, 2021
Looking to deepen your knowledge of the community, get more involved and meet people who are looking to sharpen their leadership skills? From April 1 through April 30, Leadership for Five Seasons (LFS) will be accepting applications for the LFS Adult Class of 2022. If you or one of your colleagues are interested in being considered one of the 35 chosen for the upcoming LFS program, here’s what you need to know:
- LFS is a premier community leadership program that focuses on developing top talent through a formal leadership curriculum
- The program provides participants with community knowledge, connections, and inspiration to make a positive impact on the community.
- The Adult program consists of a class of 35, spans 10 months (August through May) and begins with a two-day leadership retreat.
- Over the course of the class, attendees will participate in nine monthly leadership days to learn about areas of economic opportunity, quality of life and challenges facing the community. Leadership development is built into each of these days and is based around a theme. These themes include history, agriculture, arts and culture, entrepreneurship, human needs, government, economic development, education and health care.
If you’d like to be alerted when the LFS Adult application opens or have additional questions, reach out to Leadership Program & Administrative Specialist, Jessica Komisar, at email@example.com or visit www.cedarrapids.org/LFS for more information.
SMALL BUSINESS AND NONPROFIT SCHOLARSHIP
There are several opportunities to obtain a scholarship for the upcoming LFS Class of 2022. LFS Scholarship Sponsor Shive-Hattery is, for a third year, providing a scholarship to cover one participant’s Adult program tuition. The scholarship is specifically designed for small businesses and nonprofits with limited financial means to send a leader through the LFS Adult program.
LFS Scholarship Sponsor, Van Meter, is providing a new opportunity to cover the tuition of one diverse participant, specifically from an under-represented group such as people of color or those with a diverse background.
Support the LFS Class of 2021 - LFS Youth Shirts
The LFS Youth Class of 2021 is currently selling a t-shirt, designed by student Ella Tallet, to raise funds for a class mural to be painted on their project day, April 21, 2021. When asked about her design concept, Tallet said, “I wanted to stress the importance that everyone throughout the world is a human being who is entitled to the same opportunities and should be held in the same esteem as any other person, no matter their race and ethnicity. Each of us are special and unique.”
T-shirts are available for purchase through March 31, 2021 on the 100% Over Racism website at www.100percentoverracism.com under the “Affiliates” tab. Please consider helping the LFS Youth Class of 2021 reach their goal of selling 300 t-shirts!
