The Economic Alliance Welcomes New Colleagues and Summer Interns

Julie Kraft - Interim Communications Director
Julie Kraft is now a part of the communications team at the Economic Alliance, stepping in to help with media relations and our many publications for members. Julie has a long history of working with the media in our area, as well as on community projects like ConnectCR. She is also an adjunct professor for the University of Iowa. Julie is helping fill a (big!) gap left by the departure of Melissa McCarville, who recently joined Alliant Energy as senior communications partner.
Christine Brewer - Receptionist
Christine Brewer is the new receptionist at the Economic Alliance. She has a bachelor’s degree from Coe College, majoring in Communication Studies. Christine was a revenue cycle representative for MediRevv, reviewing and resolving medical claims. We are thrilled to have Christine on the team. Please say hello and welcome her the next time you enter the Economic Alliance building.
Piper Cooper - Economic Development, Workforce Research Intern
Piper Cooper is a junior at Coe College majoring in political science and economics. This summer she’s working with the economic development and workforce research teams at the Economic Alliance. Originally from Alaska, she has research experience with Iowa political campaigns and is eager to put her skills to use helping with research and analysis on many diverse projects.
Colin Glandon - Maintenance Specialist
Colin Glandon joined the Economic Alliance team as the new Maintenance Specialist on Monday, June 21. Colin most recently worked for Park Cedar Rapids on care and maintenance of ramps, lots and skywalks. Prior to that time he was a material handler for Timberline Manufacturing and an assembler at Fusion Inc.
Paige Madden - Events and Communications Intern
Paige Madden is a junior at The University of Iowa and has joined the Economic Alliance team for the summer working with the events and communications team. Originally from Des Moines, she’s majoring in Communication, and minoring in Art Studies with a Certificate in Event Management.
Caleb Woods - Communications Specialist
Caleb Woods joined the Economic Alliance team as the new communications specialist on June 14. He graduated from Iowa State University in 2020 with a degree in public relations and a minor in communication studies. Caleb had a number of area internships, and most recently worked with IMS Branded Solutions on an apparel fundraising program. He brings a ton of energy and social media expertise to the Economic Alliance, where he’ll handle social media strategy, content creation and have a vital role in keeping all of our members, community initiatives and strategic plan goals top of mind in the digital space.
Stella Bernhard and Alex Kingery - High School Interns
The Economic Alliance is thrilled to have two Workplace Learning Connection high school interns with us over the summer. Stella Bernhard is a student at Xavier High School. She will be focused on helping the events team with events and efforts over the course of this summer. Alex Kingery is a student at Prairie High School. He will assist the analytics team during his time at the Economic Alliance Office.
