MedQuarter Facade Improvement Grant Award Presentations

Dec 16, 2021

The MedQuarter Façade Improvement Program is intended to encourage property and business owners within the MedQuarter to renovate their building fronts and other exteriors plainly visible to the public. By establishing a mechanism for the City of Cedar Rapids and the Cedar Rapids Medical Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District (MedQuarter SSMID) Commission to share in the project cost, the program promotes more renovations, as well as higher quality exterior improvements. An increase in the visible private investment complements all other economic initiatives within the area.

On Wednesday, October 27th representatives from the MedQuarter Regional Medical District, John Albert and Suzy McGrane-Hop, presented checks to the most recent grant for their building at 625 1st Avenue SE in the amount of $6,235.50, and John Wasta for the building at 1239 1st Avenue SE in the amount of $10,000.
