July 21, 2025 | Community Development, Economic Development & Workforce

Believe in CR Schools announced today it has raised $304,781.37 since the committee opened. The money raised will be used to run a campaign to support passage of the Cedar Rapids Community School District’s bond referendum this November.
“We’re thrilled with the outpouring of financial support as the greater Cedar Rapids community is rallying behind this plan to support our kids. From local businesses, community leaders and citizens, Believe in CR Schools has received widespread support because the plan is focused, affordable, and prioritizes student safety,” said Barbra Solberg, Chair of Believe in CR Schools.
Mike Moran, Chairman and CEO of Janda, who supported the PAC financially added, “my investment in the schools is all about the future of my business. I want smart young people to be ready to work with us, buy from us and maintain a competitive advantage for Iowa.”
“The fundraising success is another indicator pointing to the growing momentum for support of the school district’s plan. Having already collected 4,000+ signatures, coupled with the growing list of endorsements and polling which shows support breaking 60% we’re well positioned to pass the Cedar Rapids School District bond referendum this Fall,” said Ron Corbett, Vice-President of Economic Development at the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance.
The committee has filed its report with the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure. The report can be found online here.
