The Economic Alliance advocates for economic growth policies on the local, state and federal levels that support our efforts to address workforce challenges, support businesses of all sizes and types and promote robust and welcoming communities.

The Economic Alliance collaborates with our members and other stakeholders and partners, including local and regional municipalities and entities to develop our policy agendas. We align and partner with other statewide and national like-minded groups to provide a unified voice to advocate for economic growth policies key to our members and the region.

The Economic Alliance is a non-partisan organization that does not endorse or donate to political candidates. We support First Amendment rights for all people and encourage elected officials, candidates and citizens to be civil in discussions and debates on policy issues and political opinions. We are committed to leading by example.

Mayoral Forum 2021 - Register Now!

The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance and the Hawkeye Area Labor Council AFL-CIO, along with KCRG-TV9, have teamed up to host a forum for candidates running for mayor of Cedar Rapids on Oct. 6 from 7-8:30p.m. All three Cedar Rapids mayoral candidates have confirmed attendance for this event. We look forward to offering Economic Alliance members and Hawkeye Area Labor Council members and retirees the opportunity to hear from each candidate on their thoughts for the future of Cedar Rapids. We encourage attendees to submit a question for potential use during the forum. Questions can be submitted during the registration process.

Regional Legislative Launch

The Regional Legislative Launch is a special event by the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance and Iowa City Area Business Partnership as we unveil our joint 2020 state and federal public policy agendas. This is the second year in a row the two organizations will advocate as one region with state and federal policy makers. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with policy makers that represent cities and counties in ICR IOWA before new sessions begin in January.

Policy on the Rocks

Policy on the Rocks logoThis casual event gives lawmakers and members the opportunity to network and discuss important issues in a relaxed environment. Held at a member restaurant or bar, this event has been a very successful addition to our Public Policy events calendar since 2014.

ICR Day at the Capitol

The Economic Alliance joins forces with the Iowa City Area Business Partnership for our annual Iowa City Cedar Rapids Day.

We invite our members to join us for an opportunity to advocate for Iowa City Cedar Rapids public policy priorities. In addition to delivering kolaches (a much anticipated tradition), our members will have the opportunity to attend and observe meetings with legislators on this day.
