Public Policy Discussion with Business Leaders and Legislators
January 22, 3-4 p.m. | Zoom | Register Now!
Partnering together, the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, Marion Chamber of Commerce, Marion Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) and the Hiawatha Economic Development Corporation (HEDCO) will host a series of virtual public policy panels during this legislative session to speak directly to area legislators about the timely issues most important to the business community.
We will kick off the first “Business Leader Public Policy Discussion” series on Friday, January 22nd from 3-4 PM. RSVP here. For the first discussion we will focus on policies that spur growth in our region. From housing to broadband and redevelopment, these issues are instrumental as we continue to recovery from the pandemic and natural disaster.
The panel will consist of business leaders and will be moderated by one of our organizations. Legislators will have opportunities to react as part of the moderated discussion, and audience members will also have an opportunity to comment and/or ask questions of our state policy makers and panelists.
Regional Legislative Launch
The Regional Legislative Launch is a special event by the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance and Iowa City Area Business Partnership as we unveil our joint 2020 state and federal public policy agendas. This is the second year in a row the two organizations will advocate as one region with state and federal policy makers. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with policy makers that represent cities and counties in ICR IOWA before new sessions begin in January.
Policy on the Rocks
This casual event gives lawmakers and members the opportunity to network and discuss important issues in a relaxed environment. Held at a member restaurant or bar, this event has been a very successful addition to our Public Policy events calendar since 2014.

ICR Day at the Capitol
The Economic Alliance joins forces with the Iowa City Area Business Partnership for our annual Iowa City Cedar Rapids Day.
We invite our members to join us for an opportunity to advocate for Iowa City Cedar Rapids public policy priorities. In addition to delivering kolaches (a much anticipated tradition), our members will have the opportunity to attend and observe meetings with legislators on this day.
Check out our Events Calendar to see all upcoming public policy events.
Watch for other public policy events and news via our Public Policy Update, sent weekly during Iowa legislative session.
