ICR Iowa is home to a half million creative residents and covers 4,400 square miles in eastern Iowa including the seven county region of Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn and Washington counties.

ICR Iowa is a shared identity that represents the people, places and ideals of the 7-county region. Our region’s historical strengths include art, science, manufacturing and technology, and the future holds aspirations for an even more collaborative, innovative and imaginative region. We are actively seeking new frontiers and opportunities in information technology, biotechnology and bioprocessing, renewable energy, and educational services.

Recent Economic Progress Announcements


Timberline Manufacturing, a Marion based contract manufacturer of electrical sub-assemblies, was awarded state tax incentives today that will support the construction of a new manufacturing facility. The proposed project includes the construction of an 85,000 square foot facility located at 1029 Blairs Ferry Road. The investment would double the company’s production space and capacity. The property is located adjacent to the company’s current headquarters on Lyons Lane in Marion. Total capital investment is anticipated to be $12.8 million.


World Class Industries, Inc., a global supply chain integration specialist, announced a proposal for an $8M business expansion development in Hiawatha, IA. The first phase of the proposed expansion project is the development of a new 50,000 sq. ft. office, manufacturing and warehouse space to support new project incubation and project launches. The proposed expansion project will create 28 new jobs.


Frontier Natural Products Co-op will expand their main campus in Norway. Frontier plans to build a new 10,000-square foot building for flammable storage and an Innovation Center for new cosmetic and food development. To maintain consistency with its sustainability initiatives, the business will install solar arrays to power operations. The project has a capital investment of $3.1M. The Iowa Economic Development Authority board awarded tax incentives via the High Quality Jobs program.

Marion Process Solution will expand and create a state-of-the-art test facility and be home to Marion Performance Group, its newly formed parts and services team. The company specializes in the design and manufacturing of custom horizontal mixers for the food, chemical, mineral, plastics and biomass markets. The new expansion will add 6,100 square feet to its existing campus with capital investment estimated at $1.5 million. Read More!


Legacy Manufacturing Company announced they would move forward with expansion to its recently completed facility as a result of continued growth and success in reshoring U.S. manufacturing processes. In 2016, Legacy completed its 133,000 square foot facility located at 6509 Partners Avenue in Marion. The new warehouse expansion adds 200,000 square feet to Legacy’s existing location with capital investment estimated at $12M and a creation 13 new jobs, the Economic Alliance assisted in securing state and city assistance.
HECO_color_bevel.jpg Highway Equipment Company, manufacturer of New Leader® crop nutrient applicators, and Hi-Way® deicing spreaders and road maintenance equipment, announced they would officially move forward on a plan to expand its current Cedar Rapids facility located at 1330 76th Ave SW with $3.3M of investment and a proposed testing facility. The project is creating 14 high-quality jobs and serves to conduct extensive product testing on existing products and experimental equipment during product development.
